The community that many Angelenos go to eat delicious Latino street food consist of a small population of 2,945 people according to the Census Reporter. Based on that report alone Latinos make up of that number just under half of the population.

Census Reporter of zip code 90021.

Surprisingly there are more white people confirmed by the Census reporter than Black people. There are 25% white people and just under 50% Latinos in the area of 90021, where the Piñata District is located. I was not raised in this area but going there as a child with my family, I remember feeling comfortable speaking Spanish around the community.

Spanish is the most spoken language in Los Angeles itself. Spanish is being spoken 93% in a household in this community, where the Piñata District is located. Spanish is the dominant language, and only 48% of people speak English at Home.

Census Reporter on Race and Ethnicity.

The community based on the Census Reporter is at a poverty level. More than 60% of the population that live in that community make less than fifty thousand. Growing up in a Latino home, I do remember being raised that money was always a struggle. Most of the people that work around that area are families of low-income households. With parents having to provide for their families and going out and work and expose themselves to COVID.

The Piñata Factory is a location where people that work there or attend that is at high risk for contracting COVID.

Statistics provided by Crosstown.

As you can see how these statistics from Crosstown show how many infections are in that community, there are a total of 18390.00 per 100K of infections.

These cases are high and I believe not only because of the holidays that we just went through but also because many of these families must provide and keep their families afloat. For most of these families that probably contracted COVID, it was probably inevitable because of parents probably having no choice but to go out and work.

Infections Rate provided by Crosstown.

These infection rates that are rising rapidly in these rural communities are something that can not be stopped but can be tamed with proper help by the government. Most minorities live in such high groups in homes that are not safe, and almost impossible to quartine yourself if you were infected.

There needs to be a better system where minority groups in these specific communities get help to slow the infection rates in these smaller communities.
